Centralized Services & Position Management Lock Down Time in Position Updates

We are using position management to trigger the update to time in position. With the recent centralized services changes, we can no longer manually change that date.

Use case: if a higher level employee with hundreds of matrix relationships moves into a new job code we would just update the current position and change the time in position to avoid additional imports to clean up the relationships. This is no longer allowed so we would need to move the employee into a new position OR ignore accept that the time in position field is incorrect.

My thought was to adjust the business rule updating time in position to also look at job code changes but that could open pandora's box with position corrections. Has anyone else encountered this same struggle?
