SAP Process Orchestration with High Availability Concept

Dear Expert,

I would like to ask if there is any concept or information sharing available about SAP Process Orchestation with High Availabllity concept or not. I'd look for an improvement of the current case, whereby a single instance of SAP PO 7.5 was installed (8 cores, 64GB memory, Windows Data Center OS) on premise. However customer was afraid of the single instance will cause single point of failure, so they asking how to improved for the current installation..

In case the new SAP PO system can be installled in parallel and use it active-active approach, what are the requirement on this.

Bes regards,

Prinya

Dear Balaji,

thank you for your quick response, current landscape is as picture below. So having 2 applications and perhaps additional 8 core are something we also discuss with customer. But I am not so sure in terms of the Active-Active, Active-Standby, what could be the approach. Since now the SAP PO is able to support certain interfaces (now around 40-60% utilization), but customer plans to integrate with other systems in the future, so they are thinking about performance of SAP PO to be prepared and secondly the risk mitigation when SAP PO is only one instance and considering to be one of the mission critical system soon.

active-active should be possible.

Hi,

there are many options to start with. you may have to improvise according to the landscape setup/requirements/budget considerations/operational challenges, etc.,

1. consider installing 2nd app server (note that licensing is based on CPUs. so there will be increase in licensing cost when you add more instances or CPU resources).

1a. have minimum of 2 server nodes in each instance (to avoid node failures)

2. Install webdispatcher to load balance

3. consider decentralizing the key PO components. there are solutions recommended for having decentralized AE

4. needless to say, have SCS and instances split. configure clustering for SCS and DB

such designs come up with operational overhead. so consider the design carefully according to the needs/limits.

As I said, these are not the only options. there might be several possibilities. you have to explore bit more.
