How to delete a DTP without deleting request in data target?

Hi Friends,

We are attempting to delete obsolete and unnecessary objects,but retain the data in the target DSO or InfoCube for historical reference. When we try to delete the delta DTP, it won't let us do so without deleting the requests from the target. This means we also cannot delete the obsolete Transformation (referenced by DTP) , the obsolete DataSource (reference by Transformation). In some cases, the target InfoProvider has multiple, current DataSources we wish to continue using.

It seems ridiculous to retain obsolete objects just to retain the stored data.

Is there a way around this "feature" ?
