Launchpad search: How to extend search scope

Dear all,

how can I extend the scope of data fields considered by the launchpad search. E.g. if I want to search a product by the old product number this can only be done in the app Manage Product Master Data. I looked into the help file of the launchpad admin guide, but there is nothing mentioned how to extend the search scope.

I do not want to assign roles to use the Manage Product Master Data to every user, because this will also allow all users to modify product master data.

My users want to use the launchpad search in a Google - like full text search, but this does not work in standard setup.
