Product Data File

Dear Community, I hope you're doing well,

We are planning the preparation of the product data file. I have some questions about this file.

  • It is possible to upload not only the eCommerce products, but only the point of sale products?
  • In case of uploading products from the Point of Sale (POS), What input should be added in the link field? I understand this field is mandatory in case of digital items.

Best regards,

Juan Cabrera

Hi juanescab,

Interesting question! By 'point of sale items' I guess you mean items that will never be available for digital purchase?

If you do include them in your product catalog, and the link field is mandatory, you'll need a link that won't give the customer a poor experience when they click it. For example link to an image that says 'this item is available to purchase in-store only' or something similar. Don't forget that if you include a POS product in your catalog and a contact is tracked as having bought it, this item might appear as a recommendation somewhere and the link will be part of that product, so you don't want a broken link.

You can also give all of your POS items the same category in the catalog (e.g. 'POS') and then use our wonderful new personalization rules to exclude that category from any recommendations, so the link won't appear anywhere.

Most important is to remember that your regular product data file syncs overwrite the entire file every time, therefore you should always upload everything you have. Here's the documentation for info.

Hope that helps!

Dear wyoung, I hope you're doing well,

Thank you very much for your recommendations and guide, it was very useful. I will dive deeper into personalization rules doc.
