Using ABNAN for historic depreciation

Hi there,

*Just to start - I am not sure how to use the SAP tags, I hope this reached the right audience, if not please help me move this*

I currently have an asset sitting in Assets under construction and has not been touched nor depreciated for couple years. I have been told recently that it needs to start depreciating from 01.07.2021 last year.

I have moved it into normal PPE so far using ABUMN and ticked the "Post capitalization" box.

Questions:

1) When I use AS03 [before applying ABNAN], to look at projected depreciation, it does not seem to calculate it correctly. The 2022 amount seems to be right, but then years onwards seem to take on almost 15 months worth of depreciation in one year, with the asset being fully depreciated one year earlier than expected. Does anyone know why?

2) The above question may become moot as I am applying ABNAN to backdate depreciation anyways, but still good to know why for my knowledge. My second question is how to apply ABNAN.

For September month end, I want the asset to have depreciated 15 months worth catch up (1.07.2021 to 30.09.2022)

In ABNAN there are these filed to fill:

Doc Date

Posting Date

Orig Val Date

Amount Posted

Quantity

Can someone let me know the exact dates I need to fill in? Do I need to fill in "Amount Posted"? And "Quantity"?

3) When I then run AFAB for depreciation at month end, what will happen? How much of the depreciation posted will be from ABNAN and how much will AFAB post? Should I do 14 months worth in ABNAN and then 1 months normal in AFAB? How?

Thank you,
