Hi,
We have android and iOS users in Production, on time to time basis we generally sent imp push notifications to them. We observed that some users disable the Afaria client Notification [iOS : Settings-> Afaria-> Notifications -> Allow Notification(uncheck) & Android: Settings-> Application Manager-> Mobile Secure-> Show Notification(uncheck)].Due to that they never receive the imp announcements. Can we shomehow disable this option centrally from Afaria admin console?
FYI, we are using Afaria on Primise version 7 SP8.
Thanks in advance
Kind regards,
Krishna
Hello Krishna,
Afaria policies are limited to what MDM protocol and devices support. In this case both iOS and Android don't provide these options. It is important to mention that Apple give companies more control and allow for more restrictions if you use what's called DEP which is a specifc Enrollment using Apple Deployment Programs. When you use this type of configuration devices will be enrolled in superivsed mode. You need to be running latest version of Afaria to take advantage of this enhance restrictions.
We've also changed the way customers request enhancements requests. We no longer use idea place. Please see following blog for more details: https://blogs.sap.com/2017/02/17/product-improvement-ideas-mobile-security/
Thank you,
Aziz

Hello Krishna,
I just gone through the description, and I tried to check the possibility options, but no luck. I think we need to raise the enhancement request at idea place website.

Hi Krishna,
I looked under our restrictions policy for both iOS and Android, I don't see an option to prevent users from disabling notification for Afaria application.
Thank you,
Aziz

Hi Aziz,
Thank you for your reply, but I think there should be some way to disable this option, otherwise what is the purpose of MDM tool, if user have their own control even on MDM client.
I have seen at least for android(LG & Samsung SAFE) there is option for Device Manager Policy (allow afaria device admin deactivation) to disable afaria client, though I haven't tested, and even I am not sure what range of device, it will support - all/partial samsung device only or all android devices. For iOS, I am not sure if any such policy exist.
Thanks

Krishna
