Public Dimension Authorization

Hi We have a company wide SAC Tenant being used across various competencies across the company for hands on self learning, testing.

We have used this tenant to prepare a dashboard using excel as a source and we have a very critical usage of Public Dimension for internal usage, is there a way if we can restrict the deletion/updating of public dimension or can we restrict the public dimension in such a way that its either editable by certain set of users or if it can be viewed by a certain set of users. The idea is to ensure if the public dimension is not deleted or edited by someone by mistake and this would ensure confidentiality and keep the dimension secure so that none other than the set of developers can edit it.

Thanks

Hi sacanalytics,

In SAC role definition, you can have view only setting on a public dimension.

Thanks for the inputs, given the case i do not want to go into profile of each SAC developer profile to restrict any other public dimension.

Les say i created a public dimension named pubdim for a team X in the organization, Now i would like that the pubdim is visible to only team X in the org and or only team X can only modify or delete the pubdim rest no one can delete or modify the pubdim and if at all its visible to them it should be only display access for rest of the teams other than team X.

I would just like to play around with the authorization of Team X without touching the SAC developers for rest of the organization.

Any pointers on the same please. Appreciate your help. Is there a link that is handy that performs the ask or step by step.

Thanks

Hi sacanalytics,

Whether you need to touch other SAC developers' role really depends on what role they currently have. If they already have a role to update or maintain dimensions at the top level in role. those SAC developers will automatically have write access to any newly create dimension. So the recommendation is NOT to give update/maintain role on top level (of dimension ) to SAC developers and only allow team X to update/maintain the public dimension you newly created.
