Creating additional field in IT0001

We wish to have an additional field in IT0001 named "Department". How can we achieve this in config?

hello, that is correct since this activity has to be executed by a developer, since you are touching workbench objects, you need a development user to execute the changes.

Another option you have is to use an existing field that is not used and fill it with the data you require.

Every standard infotype contains a customizing include. It is at the end of the standard table structure and starts with CI. So for infotype 1 you are looking at CI_P0001. SAP controls the name of the structure but you are free to add any field to it.
