Do differing versions of Crystal Reports create conflict when present in a single work station?

As a supermarket and hardware retailer, we have several back office applications with Crystal Reports embedded in them, and they are different versions. Some years ago, these different versions conflicted when loaded onto one work station and that work station could no longer print reports off one of the applications. It was a real pain in the neck and could never be fixed until we actually replaced the work station and upgraded to Windows7. Now we need two work stations to install Crystal Reports with a new payroll application, but we are afraid to do it since two other applications on those workstations are also using Crystal Reports. Is there still a conflict or has that been resolved?

Hi Linda,

That is a good question, unfortunately we need to know what versions of the runtime those other software packages are using?

You can have CR XI R2, CR 2008 and CR2011 on the same PC. You cannot have CR 2011, 2013 or 2016 on the same PC, they are all just upgrades from 2011.

Now the runtime those applications are using, you may see the CR runtime in the Programs and Feature that they installed, scroll across and it should show you the version it is.

The only runtime we have for the latest third party Applications now is CR for VS, it's version 13.0.x.xxxx. Mostly one app will run using different versions but there we updates that may cause problems.

The best thing to do is ask all of your third party app's to upgrade to SP 19, if they are using CR for VS. It's the latest release and mosst stable/least amount of bugs and all of the enhancements I've submitted.

Best thing to do it ask the vendors to upgrade if they can so every one is using the same version.

If they are not using CR for VS then none of them are currently supported by SAP. Unless they happen to be using BusinessObjects Enterprise SDK 4.x then they are also.
