How to Exclude Storage Location by running MRP at Plant level through MD01 in SAP HANA?

Dear Experts,

I am working on the MRP area in SAP HANA. I have to exclude certain storage location while MRP run.

I have created a Storage Location MRP Area FG001 for Plant-A and have assigned 3 Storage Locations (SL1, SL2 & SL3) to this MRP Area.

The MRP Area FG001 is assigned in the material master MRP1 view with MRP Type "ND" to exclude the storage locations assigned to MRP Area FG001 while the MRP.

My doubt is when I run the MRP at the plant level (MD01), whether the system will automatically exclude those storage locations (assigned to FG001), or do I have to run the MRP again at the MRP Area level?

Please guide me in this scenario.

Thanks & regards

Hello 27maheboob

Given your setup you have now two MRP areas:

  • one on the plant level that contains all storage location but storage locations SL1, SL2 & SL3 that are assigned to MRP area FG001
  • the other is storage location MRP area FG001

S/4HANA makes MRP areas obligatory. So MRP doesn't run on plant level directly, but on MRP area level. Therefore if you run MRP on the plant level i.e. MRP area of the plant, storage locations SL1, SL2 & SL3 will be excluded.

Dear Dominik,

Thanks for your quick reply.

It means, that if I run the MRP through MD01 at the Plant level, then the system will consider all MRP Areas assigned to this Plant.

Please clear my doubt.

27maheboob Yes, that is my understanding of MPR run on plant level with MRP areas activated. I'd suggest defining a planning scope to specify precisely which MRP areas you want to plan and in which sequence.
