SAP Product that allows employees to upload or maintain data sets

Hi All,

We often have a requirement that we ask a business user to maintain a cross reference table, or supply a file from one system, which we then feed into another solution or system. We don't have an elegant way of managing this, often a cross reference file is given to us from finance, and the technical team truncate a table and reload the table in our reporting database. Or worse still we would have a heap of tables in ERP that employees update; the ERP is just providing a framework to update the data (SM30), we then suck that data into other systems.

So horrible, is there a product SAP has that gives the employee a good experience, if they want to update or upload a cross reference table, or submit files to on a regular basis it is an easy exercise?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve. I would suggest you add a tag of a product you are referring to (ERP, I assume?).

There are some SAP products, like SAP Analytics Cloud or SAP Data Intelligence, that allow users to upload files, but they do this in a context of a particular product.

Regards.

Thanks Witalij, I’ve expanded my question to a few other sap products. It is not ERP, I just used erp as an example of where we store and maintain some adhoc data that is extracted and thrown into a data warehouse for other purposes.

The best analogy I can think of to explain my need is similar to a file submission service. I have a group of employees that need to submit a file to me periodically; ideally I want them to upload a file into a product and move on with their day.

The service would validate the file and then kick off a ETL of some description. A bit like what happens when you send a payment file to a bank I suppose.

Hi,

We developed our own application (in Cloud Foundry) to run integrity tests immediately after the customer upload its file (so he knows pretty quickly if it's ok). But if you trust your colleagues to upload a correct Excel files, the DP Agent (Smart data integration) is a good start. It can read files from Sharepoint too (and it's free). You can even add some automation with either Azure or SAP to put the Excel in the right sharepoint.

Best regards,

Yann

I've got to say after the research i did i ended up thinking BTP would be the answer, it seems to be a simple enough, small enough application to be able to build out. Thanks for your thoughts.
