Please see note 921720 for details about payment medium security and encryption. And note 2309774 for more information about payment media file and digital signature.
That notes should help you to setup your system correctly.

note 921720 -Payment medium: Security and encryption:

Symptom
To what extent are the payment medium files generated by the programs RFFO* or by the PMW (SAPFPAYM) protected from unauthorized changes?
Solution
The payment medium files that are generated with RFFO* programs are not generally encrypted when created.

To prevent the files from being changed without authorization, please use the access control resources of the operating system of your application server or of the operating system of the front end. When you generate them on the application servers, you can write the payment mediums to a directory that is protected from unauthorized access and can forward the files directly to the bank from there.

PMW formats of type FTA (transaction OBPM1):
In the case of PMW files (transaction FBPM, report SAPFPAFYM), the file is signed with SSF (Secure Store and Forward) and encoded with BASE64 if you select the type FTA in transaction OBPM1 (call module 'SSF_KRN_SIGN_BY_AS', function group BNK_FTA). This, however, is not encryption.

note 2309774-PMW files with type FTA, SWIFT gateway

Symptom
How are files for the SWIFT network created and processed?

Reason and Prerequisites
The PMW format in transaction OBPM1 is flagged as the type FTA.

Solution

The payment files are created with a prefix that contains the address of the processing bank. This is followed by the payload, the file in a PMW format. The file is fed into the Swift network and forwarded to the processing bank.
