How to plan cycle counting when you have WM?

Hello SAP gurus,

I have a question regarding cycle counting.

We are trying to set cycle counting for our warehouse. The purpose is to be able to count every article at least once during the year. We allow mixed storage in our bins.

We have done the customizing in SPRO (defining the inventory methods per storage type and creating classes A, B, C). The classes also have been filled in the material masters.

My problem is that we have to be able to create the physical inventory document before activating it (it can take a couple of days before the actual counting).

The transaction LICC does not allow to create the document first and activate it later (from what I understood). Is it correct ? Do you guys know why?

I could use LX26, but it does not completely answer our requirements (the cycle counting would be at bin level, and the entire bin would be blocked).

How did you guys managed your cycle counting?

Thank you for your help.

KR.

Preparing an inventory document for a bin in advance makes some limited sense as the bin will not vanish

But an inventory document in advance for a quant is useless as the quant gets deleted with a goods issue.

I also understand the logic behind the immediate activation of inventory at quant level.

The point of my question was to know if there was any other way to do it.

I guess we will have to use LICC on the day of counting or use LX26 and activate the PI document only on the day of counting.
