Any reading on data archiving methodology (including prerequisites) that covers next data objects: vendor master, material master and OA …

I am looking for step by step guide that would explain:

Which data objects should be archived first?

Which conditions one master object should fulfill to qualify for archiving?

Identifying and deleting relevant dependent data for each object.

Any other useful tips?

Hello Violeta,

When it comes to archiving, these questions of yours are essential. Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet to archiving, since it is very much dependent on your system and how it has been used.

However, you can get a first idea from transaction DB02 that at least shows you the Tables with Greatest Growth and your Largest Tables as well:

These might be good candidates for archiving, but if this is unfamiliar to you, it might also be a good idea to consult someone specialized in the topic.

Very best regards

Always archive transaction data prior to master data, as you cannot archive any data that is reference somewhere else.

All these questions are clarified in the Data Archiving training BIT660
