Unexpected Program Variant Change

Hello,

We encountered an issue in SAP wherein the variant of the program 'SAPFPAYM' (Create Payment Medium) got updated automatically. The destination folder path got updated from Production to Development. The payments were working fine until 29.06.2022. Surprisingly, on 30.06.2022, all the generated payment files moved to Development file path instead of Production file path causing delays in payment processing. Unfortunately, I am unable to find a history of changes done to the variant and it only shows the last user ID changes in VARID table.

Has anyone experienced this type of realtime issue in production? What could have caused this? What can be done to prevent such issues from happening in future? We tried protecting the fields but that seldom helps.

Hi

You can check in table VARID on who made the changes last. This table will record the user id and date for the change of variant, but not the details of the actual changes made.

Thanks Sanil for your response. I am aware of the VARID table. However, I was trying to figure out short history of variant changes. May be last 5 changes with user ID / date.

Hi

The VARID only keeps record of the last change done on a variant, You would not be able t find out the complete history that you expect
