Hello

SAP Experts.

About HANA DB installation reference. I would like to know if it is possible to install HANA DB only use Support Packages and Patches below.

・IMDB_CLIENT20_xxx_xxx-xxxxxx.SAR

・IMDB_SERVER20_xxx_x-xxxxxxx.SAR

I usually go to INSTALLATIONS & UPGRADES to download the zip file(with all components) then install HANA DB with unzipping the file then again update the components with Support Packages and Patches.

Software Download | SAP Help Portal

reference: We strongly recommend using the most recent revision of an SPS to avoid running into issues, which are already known and fixed.

Therefore, by default, download media for all components of SAP HANA for an installation or upgrade from the section Support Packages & Patches.

New Installation of SAP S/4HANA 2020 FPS1 – Part 2 – Installation | SAP Blogs

In this blogs it seems for installation the HANA DB only use Support Packages and Patches.

I am confused could tell me if it is possible to install HANA DB only use Support Packages and Patches.

Thanks so much.

Best regards!

Hi,

yes, you can use the support packages and patches to install a HANA database from scratch. You don't have to use the stack package usally delivered with Revision 0 means Rev. 50 (SPS05 or 60 (SPS06). Within the stack there are several other components included, but in the end you have tp patch all the components (e.g. AFL or XSA) you want to install. Check which components you need and download directly the patches and install your final versions. You can save a lot of time doing it this way. Be sure that you always update also the HANA client and libdbsl on the application server side.

Regards,

Jens
