We are performing ERP Installation and we have the following scenario:
Installation is being performed on Linux VM(hosted in Azure). We have use AD users for the Installation and Administration activities. Our Infrastructure team needs to know if AD users(hosted on Windows AD) can be used in SLES VM for installation. If so could you please share any documentation available as reference?

For Azure installation, SAPINST_REMOTE_ACCESS_USER option can be used to start SWPM without being a Linux local root user. However this remote access user has to be specially prepared to be a trusted user which can sudo su to root. As long as your AD user is prepared properly, you should be able to proceed without using root on the Linux VM.

MS also provided similar approach guide from here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/workloads/sap/high-availability-guide-suse . It is an HA setup though.

More background of SAPINST_REMOTE_ACCESS_USER can be found in this SAP note 1745524-SAPinst 720-2 / 749 - Using property SAPINST_REMOTE_ACCESS_USER
