Generating a story to multiple departments

I wanted to get some help regarding the following.

I have created a story in sac and formatted it the way I want. This story is for a department node. This node has several departments under it.

How to automatically generate this story not only to the node but to all the children/departments under it?

In BPC this was accomplished by the "worksheet generation".

At this moment I am not able to find a similar feature in SAC.
Kindly advise.

Hello kocomandi,

Assuming you are trying to to automate the story consumption at department and management level based on their access, you can setup department as org dimension in your model. This will allow you to assign access to specific department or group of department to a given user or team.

Now you can either assign individual users or team (groups defined in SAC) to individual department values. When user from sub department open your story, data will be sliced based on given access. Same stands true when a user from top level access the story and see aggregated department info.

Beside, story consumption based on access, you can schedule story and send/share story output to user based on same access. This is publication.Key her is the "read" access setup on department dimension followed by assignment of users (teams)

Other option would be to use "Sections" in story level. This will let your widgets segmented by a selected dimensions (in this case division hierarchy) and system will mimic same set of widgets for all available sub levels.

I have everything set up in terms of hierarchies. Currently I have a Budget to actual story on particular parent node in Page 1.
In order to generate the same story to all the children of this parent I copied the story on each page and I assigned each children its own page.

So when I open the story all I need to do is change the date and all the pages will refresh automatically with the new data.
However, some parents in my hierarchy have many children and it becomes cumbersome for me to copy the story to each of them.

I wanted to know if I could generate the story automatically to each of the children with a click just like in BPC where each tab belonged to a different child

As mentioned in my earlier reply, you can setup access based on individual nodes, then individual user will see only what they have access to. If required they drill down to the level they have access to in the same story. Provided you have department as a dimension added in your story widgets.

Hi there,

If you have maintained a hierarchy already you could create a story filter and allow a user to select the department that they are responsible for to open for them, additionally they could create a bookmark so that when the same user reopens the story it defaults to their department.

If my understanding is right, Hope you are looking for a parent-child hierarchy relationship.

Pls find the below screenshot, Here India is the parent and Salem is the child node like wise we can maintain.

Hi Eno,

From a use case perspective why are you trying to manage this all in one Story vs. having a filter for Story for department allowing the user to update the department and date?

Alternatively as mentioned in my original reply have you looked into the publication feature and controlling this via security?
