Hi Rama,

Let me attempt a non technical answer to your question as I don't consider there are any"pre defined reports": per se except for various log files and such. My background is accounting not technical and in my previous accounting work experience as a Financial Controller one of my main focuses was Financial report writing. I've been exposed to many ERP systems over the past 30 years and NONE of them had any "pre defined/canned reports" that would satisfy my management. But all the ERP systems had ways to create the specific financial statement reporting formats we required.

There are 2 main reporting apps delivered with Group Reporting. These are the Group Data Analysis and the Group Data Analysis with Reporting Rules (the difference with Rules is it adds extra capabilities to derive Cash Flow, Statement of Changes and other reports that may require a level of detail even lower then the FS ITEM)..

Lets focus on Group Data Analysis. You can literally create hundreds of different reports with this one app and save them as Variants or Tiles on the Fiori menu. :There are many "Filters or Prompts that drive the reports like Month and Year but the best way to format Financial reports is the FS ITEM (Consolidated Account) Hierarchy. While you can specify ranges in the filters the best practice is to create FS Item Hierarchies (ex. Balance Sheet, Income Statement and various schedules that may be subsets of these 2 major financial reports) where you can layout the specific sub totals and totals so the end result of the report is specific to what the customer wants.

All of the 50 reporting dimensions are available to drag and drop into Columns or Rows so If you want a Consolidated Income Statement you just put the FS ITEM into the Row and apply the Income Statement Hierarchy. If you want to see each company in a separate column you drag the Cons Unit into columns and then you have each individual company showing. IF you want to see eliminations you drag the Cons Unit Eliminated into the Columns. If you want Profit Centers or cost centers as additional detail you drag those into Rows or Columns depending on how you want the additional detail to show. Now consider you have FIFTY or more reporting dimensions and you can easily compile a list of hundreds of reports.

You can use the Default FS ITEM Setup that's part of the standard content but I don't think anyone does this. Each Accounting department for every company is probably going to want to have specific FS ITEMS, Profit Centers, Cost Centers, etc.. that make sense for their business and provides the reporting formats and detail their management wants to see.

So instead of rigid default reports we provide a tool to the customer where they can fairly easily create the reports they want to see in the layout they want to see them. And we have additional tools like Analysis for Office or SAC that add much more Report formatting capabilities but still utilize the same underlying Hierarchies, dimensions and CDS views. So the work you put into setting up your Hierarchies is shared across all reporting applications.

I hope this helps.
