Storage unit - when and for what it was used

Hello,

We are using SAP with WM system - raw materials have each own storage unit number on label. Is there a possibility to display during which production and for which product this storage unit was used?

For example: I have paper "type one" - storage unit 1234 (batch 1). Is there are transaction where I would put Storage unit 1234 and it will show me - it was used on 1.2.2022 for product "abc"?

Thak you very much for your answer, could you please point me out to some WMS transactions where I could analyze traceability of different batches? Is there a possibility to see how many OK pcs were produced from each batch and how many scrap parts?

Hello mon_ne

LE-WM storage unit object is used to manage stock in the warehouse located on physical pallets or containers. Each storage unit has its own, unique number. However storage unit management is limited to storage types with SU activated. It means that when you move a SU out of SU-managed storage type, the SU is deleted. Also a SU is deleted when it's depleted. You can trace all SU warehouse movements by listing relevant transfer orders with the LT27 transaction. That works even after a SU is deleted as SU numbers are kept within transfer order details.

Having said that, SUs are not the right object for production traceability. Here is why. Production areas are typically modelled with storage types that are not SU managed - the 100 storage type in SAP standard configuration. So when production supply is executed and stock in SUs is moved to the production area, the SUs are deleted after TOs confirmation. Therefore you can't tell which SUs were consumed to specific production orders.

Batches are much better when it comes to production traceability.

Best regards
