S/4 HANA Upgrade from 1709 to 2020 or 2021

Hello All,

One of our system is currently on 1709, we are planning to upgrade it to latest 2021 or 2020 release. In Netweaver it is usually been more straightforward to identify the changes and impact. With HANA lot gets change with different version. Could you suggest what ways we can identify the changes. There are lot of posts about steps but nothing is straight forward to explain what is changing, how to minimize the effort of testing, what we can actually see (top highlights).
Any recommendation is helpful.

Hi Meena,

I would suggest you to perform Scope and Effort analysis for Upgrade in solutions manager. As there are 4 jumps in version you need to find impact for very version documents available online sap help.Impact depends on current customer landscape and functionality used.

Every version sap provide release documents pick up content from your impact area.

Major impact

1. Roles and authorization changed

2. Few legal reports got out of support and require adopting alternative Fiori apps

3. Fiori 3.0 new functionality

4. New innovations packages added to s4version

5. Embedded analytics /design studio apps
