CDS and AMDP are they both related?

My query is more about their usability, similarities and differences. Like CDS is actually used for VIEWS creation. AMDP is used for Storage Procedures creation. So both have two different functionalities then how could they both be related?

Please correct me if my question is incorrect or invalid. I just feel both are completely different and there is no comparison possible between them.

Dear j.sai.ponnuru.

How are you? I have excluded the Tag "SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Research and Development" for this question, as there is no Topic in this question related to "Research and Development" LoB.

Regards.

Juliano Romanato.

To answer "are CDS and AMDP related?": they are as related as a screwdriver and a dolphin. Both exist on planet Earth but that's pretty much where similarities end.

This is not an accurate comparison but think of CDS views as sort of database views and of AMDP as sort of stored procedures. These are just general DB concepts and Wikipedia explains them quite well, I think. If you understand what views and stored procedures are, in general, it will be much easier to correlate this information to other learning.

Good luck!

Thanks for answering my query Jelena. So as per my understanding from your response they both are not comparable but then they are somehow linkable as they both are part of one concept called Database.

Yes, that's correct: these are not comparable but can be both filed under "database concepts".

Hello Michael,

Thanks for your response but I am aware that they can be used with each other in some contexts but my query was more from their core definition point of view. To be precise is it really logical to compare those both concepts is what my query is?
