EFM in SAP HCM

HCM EFM restrictions

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like you to help. We are using ESS in our company, so in the ESS role we have added some document types, where some of them have maintain access and some they are just for display. Now I was requested to create new role which have only display access, But because ESS has maintain access so they have maintain instead of display access. Is it possible to do a user exit for them to see those document types in ESS only when they are on ESS and when they are accessing via the new role they can only see the restriction in the role and not over written by ESS access?
