S/4 Credit Management - Is SD usage required?

For Credit Management in S/4 Hana - Can it be used without tying to SD? To be more specific - We use another software for our ERP (oil and gas company) and push all financials into SAP. Looking to find out when we upgrade to S/4 Hana would credit management meet the needs of the business. Because the financials are there and we interface with the ERP system - can Credit Management be setup and be used as intended with the SD module even though we are not using the SAP SD module. Hope this question makes sense.
