To integrate/extend my application to SAP

Hello,

I want to know how can I most easily integrate my proprietary application to SAP. We don't have any SAP environment in our company, but now due to client requirement we're exploring ways to extend the functionalities of our application to SAP or just sharing of data by a trigger to SAP and vice-versa. But we're not sure how to proceed on that. We're open on functional modules. We can connect any module of our application to any module of SAP.

Is it possible to implement this by us with a SAP partner account? If yes, then how? If no, then how should we proceed? I'm currently exploring SAP API Business Hub/SAP connectors, will it help in some way?

Your inputs are highly appreciated.

Hello Gautam,

The right integration approach for your custom application depends on your specific requirements, e.g. if you are looking at batch data replication, (near) real time exchange of business documents or you need to populate UIs with data. I would recommend to check out the SAP Integration Solution Advisory Methodology (ISA-M) for identifying the appropriate integration style (such as process-, data-, user-, analytics-, and thing integration) and integration use case pattern. The methodology also provides architecture blueprints using SAP integration technologies. You can find more information about ISA-M at this blog posts (https://blogs.sap.com/2021/02/19/new-isa-m-version-introducing-the-analytics-integration-style-and-more/) and you can request access to the ISA-M framework by sending a mail to isam@sap.com.

In case you are looking at extending a SAP application you may check out the SAP Application Extension Methodology for guidance (see https://blogs.sap.com/2022/04/05/introducing-sap-application-extension-methodology-version-2.0/).

Best regards,

Katrin
