Search the documentation / website of the database vendor, and if the db vendor gives you a Type IV (thin driver) JDBC driver , then you surely can connect it to XI.
Like I mentioned earlier, you can access any DB from XI. You just need to install the driver in your XI server. And, you need to get the driver from your DB nendor as correctly pointed out by Amol.
You will also need to get the connectivity parameters and driver details from your DB vendor.
Search through Informax website, download the driver, install it on your server and you can acess it.
