Hello all
I try to perform installation s/4hana 2021 ditributed system.
After install S4HANA DB on DB host, I will proceed install ASCS, DB, PAS instance on one application server.
Is it right that DB instance install location is AP Server?
Also, I want to know regarding to file system.
At DB host, is it necessary /usr/sap directory?
My plan is one DB host, one AP host.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
hi changseokpark
i see nobody pickd up this so let me try to help:
/usr/sap is needed at least for SAP host agent as per below pix
if i understand your question, db instance will be on db host as per below pix
I recommend you read this (not sure its latest sps...) to get yourself comfortable with hana stuff
I hope you like my answer, if yes please hit the button answered, thanks!A

hello amo ntella
Thank you reply. it is very excellent.
I have erp6.0 installation experience at oracle db version.
So, I know that db instance shoud be installed at db server.
but, when it is install hana server at db host, we are input DB SID information.
now, the information i want to know is db instance install through SWPM.
I also know I can select standard system type at ap server.
after complete install s4hana server at host host, if I select distributed system, i will install ASCS, DB, PAS
instance.
what you said means, is it should be installed db instance at DB host ?
at yutube, I could not find s4hana distributed system install exactly screenshot.
For me, It is very important that I know DB instance install location after install ASCS instance.
Thanks
hello amo ntella
could you confirm this link information ?
https://support.huaweicloud.com/intl/en-us/bestpractice-sap/sap_11_0030.html
I could confirm db instance install location.
this is HA system installation. but i think same concept with distributed system.
For read profile, It should be access /sapmnt path.
It was not db host. it was ap host.
It can not access at db host.
Could you share your opinion?
hi changseokpark
np. you said you have two systems, one will be your ASCS and PAS the other one will be you hana db with its hana database instance, below a screenshot of a sap distributed system where HDB02 is the name of the database instance
I'm wondering if the confusion is about the db instance, in hana the db has its own instance and bcz you have only two systems the db instance will stay with the db .
Feeling better now? 🙂
hi changseokpark
regarding the huawei docs i think you have two questions in your latest comment:
- again where db instance sits, it's in db host in facts hanaha is db host for huawei and ascsha is ascs host
- /sapmnt misunderstanding, hana has its own file system /sapmnt (db host instance is not installed in ascs /sapmnt)
I say that this thread is completed for me, i hope you agree ...
good luck!A
