Hi experts,

I have created a new storage bin with an existing storage type, but I found the Activity Areas was empty.

I tried to generate activity area according to a storage type by using "Generate Activity Area from Storage Type" in SPRO but not working.

Anyone could help?

Regards,
Eric

Hi,

you do not only have to create the activity area (and assign to the bins and define a sorting for an activity, this which happen automatically eventually when you generate the activity area) - but you also have to do the sorting with the transaction Sort Storage Bins /SCWM/SBST.

All the above is no official SAP statement.

Check for EWM courses: https://training.sap.com/trainingpath/Applications-Extended+Warehouse+Management-EWM+in+S4HANA

And it is EWM. NOT eWM - Duh!

And if your question includes the word "transfer order" - do NOT tag the question with Extended Warehouse Management!

Hi Eric,

First, you must understand the business usage of the activity area,

Activity area is the logical grouping of your storage bin (storage bins from the same storage type or different) hence when you are creating the new storage bin, it should assign to any one of the activity areas for the Picking, putaway, or any other warehouse movements.

Now, coming to your question when you create a new storage bin you should do the bin sorting based on the activity area and the activity. This bin sorting will assign your storage bins to the respecting activity area for warehouse movements.
