Design studio apps in group Reporting

Hi Experts,

I am here with basic question regarding Group reporting "Reporting" app.It seems that Sap has depreciated Group Reporting below design studio apps

Group Data Analysis - with Reporting Rules (Design Studio)

Is there any Reason behind depreciating this app as design studio was quite comfortable with drag and drop options.

Hi Saleha,

It's not Group Reporting that deprecated Design Studio. But the entire S/4 Suite. This was done by the SAC team I believe. It's been replaced with an App already in the system called WebDynPro(WDP).. It is very similar but does have some capabilities that Design Studio doesn't have (PDF output among others). There is a blog out the the 6 reasons WebDynPro is better than Design Studio. If I find the link I'll send it but do a google search and you'll probably find it. Of course this is documentation on SAP Help.

Personally I find WDP harder to use with a less visual appealing UI but it is what it is. There is also a new Reporting app that I think is a HUGE improvement being released in Public Cloud 2202. It will be in the EBQ and EAY demo tenants after their refresh in early March. IT is not drag and drop but does many things that neither Design Studio or WDP can do. Again this new App is only in Public Cloud S/4 and GR as of 2202. It will be coming to On Prem/ PCE GR with the release of 2022 S/4HANA in Sept/October later this year. Hope this helps you.

I also tend to show Analysis for Office(AO) our Excel Add in quite often but that only works with On Prem / PCE. It is on the GLA and GSA demo systems that have S/4HANA 2020 and should be on GLA when it gets upgraded to S/4HANA 2021 which should happen soon. AO has nearly all the features of Design Studio but is in Excel which many North America accountants love. It can also do things Design Studio can WDP cannot do. IT's included when the customer purchases SAC. I'm hoping AO will be available for the Public Cloud before the year is out but it's unclear to me at this time on the timing.

No problem. If your mostly doing :Public Cloud sales or demos be sure to check out the new Financial Statement Review Booklet app that's coming with Cloud 2202. Huge improvements to reporting for most users. But right now this is public only until later this year. Be aware it will get moved to On Prem / Private Cloud but only with the 2022 release. So users on earlier versions won't be able to use it as it utilizes new Fiori grids not available in earlier releases.

As for documentation I believe this KBA https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/3112220 supports explaining SAP's choice for Web Dynpro technology. In particular as well this KBA https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2997228 with the initial deprecation announcement in 2102.

SAP strategic direction is investing in SAP Analytics Cloud as the go-to solution for many analytical use cases, therefore SAP had also integrated an OEM version since several releases ago. Also, next to the use cases for SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP also delivers out of the box Embedded Analytics for multidimensional reporting, being Web Dynpro Data Grid the S/4HANA Embedded Analytics solution for this embedded multidimensional reporting.

Due to these factors, the decision was made to use the Web Dynpro Data Grid as the S/4HANA Embedded Analytics solution for multidimensional reporting.
