MaxDB Patching 7.9.08 to 7.9.10

Is anyone aware of any OS requirements when patching MAXDB (for content server) from 7.9.08 to 7.9.10.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.9

Kernel: Linux 3.10.0-1160.49.1.el7.x86_64

Also I found the patch doc How to upgrade SAP MaxDB - MaxDB - Community Wiki

Has anyone found a better one? Is root still required?

I don't know about MAXDB for content server as we're using it for a custom application. But I think your upgrade on RHEL 7.9 should be possible.

I'm quite sure root is always needed to upgrade MaxDB.

Upgrading can be done in different ways. The easiest I found is possible in case you only have one DB instance running on the server. Then you can upgrade like this:

./SDBUPD -update_global -d SINGLEDB -u DBM,PASSWOR

Use the Server Package to patch the database.
I would recommend to you to go through the SAP Note 916649 for the OS requirement and SAP Note 735598 which explains how to patch the database.

735598-Importing SAP MaxDB software as of 7.5.00

Thank you for you response. There are two files? "Application Runtime Package" and "Server Package" as part of the upgrade process??? That one command above uses both?

From what I remember that was the only command used for the upgrade, yes. As said before, it only works that way if you have only a single database instance on the server.
