fiori adaptation project- app variants

Hello, we have created app variants for a fiori tile. The requirement is to display the variant specific to user groups.

for ex. we may have country specific app variant.

However as per SAP help, the variant tile needs to be added to the same catalog as original tile. In this case how is the correct tile displayed to the user specific to their country? Do we need to work this in combination with security roles.

Please can anyone provide the steps to configure such a scenario.
