Delivery date in ME41

"Delivery date is in past"

Once our enduser fill in to create the purchase order, they mentioned " wrong date" by typing the delivery date of sending their purchase order to procurement office! Delivery of purchase order.

what's true step here? Delivery date refers to estimated date once the shipment is ready for delivery or actual delivery of the procured materials to final destination.
