Hi All,

Could anyone please explain me the concept of modification groups in the contest of standard infotype screen fields in plain words? Is there any limit to the number of values that can be assigned to a particular modification group?

Hi vijay,

1. The modification group fields (4)

which are avaialble in infotype screens,

are actually available in all kind of screens.

2. The purpose of them is to :

a) group similar related fields

b) so that at the same time,

(at the same time means, in a loop)

(other wise we have to give code for each field, one by one)

c) they can be in EDIT MODE, Display MODE

d) or INVISIBLE mode

e) we can use the combination of 4 modification group fields

f) for our any permutation/combination requirement.

Hi Suresh/Amit,

Thank u very much,

1. is there any specific reason for using HEXA DECIMAL values for modification groups for infotype screen fields?

2. Is there any limit to the number of values that can be assigned to a particular modification group?

Hi again,

1. Its not hexadecimal value. (its character values)

We can use any value, numeric, character .

2.There is no limit to the values.

(yes, but there are ONLY 4 Modification groups avaialble

GROUP1, GROUP2 , GROUP3, GROUP4)

Hi Vijay,

The limit depends on the number of hexadecimal combinations.. the reason for the hexadecimal value is because the value of Modification group 1 is interpreted on a bit-by-bit basis. Several constants can be combined. This is done by adding the values.
