Are Lumira Extensions connected to sites?

Dear experts,

One of our customers has installed some lumira extensions and used them in some lumira reports. Now they want to restrict Internet access from BO server for security reasons. Our question is, are these extensions connected to specific sites during running the report? Do we may have issues if we restrict the Internet access from the BO server?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Antonis

This page is very old and addressed to Lumira 1.x . I can't tell much about it - but the visualization extension are unlikely to cause troubles. If you however also use data access extensions, this might be a different thing.

Hello Antonis,

if you are talking about Lumira Component extensions: they mainly run on browser and not on BIP. On BIP only the so-called "ZTL" scripts are executed, that anyway can't access any network.

The JavaScript code running in the browser could try to access other web sites than BIP itself (which can be tricky because of same origin policy). If this is still possible, the extension won't recognize any change if BIP server has no internet access anymore.

Other extensions just execute local code in the browser (e.g. render a chart) and are definitly not affected.

Regards,

Reiner.

Hello Reiner,

Thank you for your reply.

I am talking about extensions downable from https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Lumira+-+Open+Source+Visualization+Extensions

If I have understood correctly your answer, we will not face issues no matter if extension connects to other sites, correct?

Regards,

Antonis
