AFC - Define closing task / delete task list

Hello team!

In the define closing task app you can create templates and based on the templates you generate the task list for the respective closing period.

Sometimes it is needed to delete an already generated and released task list - e.g. if there is a bug in the settings and the whole task list for a specific period needs to be regenerated (instead of manual adjustment of a bulk of single closing tasks manually)

In AFC S/4HANA there was a possibility to delete an incorrect task list - in AFC on BTP I miss such a functionality, if the task list has already been released.

In the SAP help portal I found the hint, that "Task lists can only be deleted if they have the status Not Released."

How to Delete Task List Templates and Task Lists

I can see the option "undo release" in the app, but I didn't find a way to activate it - it stays grey also if I pause the task list.


Q: Is there a possibility to reset the status from "released" to "not released" (in order to perform a deletion) ?

Only for better understanding:

Q: Why it is not possible to delete a task list already (partly) executed? Is there a special audit requirement for the prevention? .... in AFC S/4HANA this was possible

In the past we repeatedly had to delete a task list as the program for the generation of the task list for the closing period was buggy and the interdependencies between the tasks where mixed up. When we detected the error, some of the tasks were already processed. Therefore we deleted the task list and regenerated one for the same period. --> We hope, that will not take place in AFC on BTP 🙂

OR: When we activate a new report in AFC it is sometimes very tricky to hand over all (needed) parameters to the report via AFC, as no default settings of the ABAP program are used. For that reason we create a task template, which runs only one task with the new report. We repeat the generating of task list (incl. processing of the task) as long as the hand over from AFC to the backend (based on the customizing on the backend system <Register Programs for Parameter Mapping>) works properly.--> this generates sometimes a high number of task lists only for testing and we would get rid of that entries after successful finishing of the test. We don't know a better way of activation of new reports ...

Q: Do you have a hint for us, how we could activate a new report more efficiently?

Hello Martin,

For released but not under the "Active" status task list, you can undo release, as there is no actual execution yet.

For the task list executed already, it is not possible to do "unreleased" or "delete" as we suppose this is not proper action.

If anything is wrong with a specific task, most likely should be dates, users, or parameters, they are all editable in the "Process task list" app.
