Sold-to on top-level node in hierarchy possible?

Is it possible to create a sole Sold-to for the top level node in a hierarchy and still be able to use the same hierarchy. The reason I ask is that customer have re-structured the way the purchase so the 5 sub-level nodes (5-different sold-to's) will purchase from warehouse rather than us but top-level node will then purchase bulk from us instead. The new ship-to's will then be connected to the new sold-to (new ship to is the warehouse instead of the dept's under the 5 sold-to's) Or do you need a completely new hierarchy as well then?

If I understood the question properly, you need to create a Sold TO at the top level which does not have any Ship To associated with it, this is possible as partner function will not impact the Sold To Hierarchy. You can change the default partner function for such dedicated Sold To in XD02/BP transaction. Another option is to create a new account group for dedicated Sold To customer and make changes in the configuration to have only Sold To. But these dedicated Sold To can not be used in Sales Order as there is no associated Ship TO.

You can use for reporting purposes.
