Matching invoice date with JDT1 table date

I am in the process of rewriting many queries and instead union with OINV and ORIN table I was thinking of using JDT1 table and select object types 13 and 14 and selecting the credit and debit amounts as I could see smaller queries but I want to make sure I am matching the correct date to the invoices and credits that use OINV.DocDate or ORIN.DocDate.
