Why different address number for same partner in LFA1/KNA1/BUT020 table?

I created a business partner with basic attribute like name and address , one entry in BUT020 automatically created with BP and ADRNR (e.g. 23456)

I assigned customer role to BP and saved , Entry in KNA1 created but with a different adrnr (e.g. 23457)

Same way i assigned another role vendor and in lfa1 it exist with a different adrnr (e.g. 23458)

Even though all three adrnr carry same address details , why sap generated 3 different address number instead of having one central address number linked in all 3 tables?

is there any config in BP which i missed?

Hi Umang,

The system creates 3 addresses for 3 objects(Business Partner, Customer, Supplier) and it's correct. In S/4HANA, this is kept to be backward compatible, Since all the business processes like Order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and so on.. still rely on the address number from KNA1-ADRNR or LFA1-ADRNR.

Hence you did not miss any configuration. This is the expected functionality in S/4HANA.

Hi Ankush

Thanks for sharing.

I still have doubt -

As it is S4 System and when you check in ADRC table , all address (KNA1/ADRC/LFA1) have key as BP

so my doubt is instead of using same adrnr for all addresses why SAP creates duplicate addresses for all 3 objects?

Thank you in advance
