SAP ASE installer not showing Express Edition

I downloaded the SAP ASE trial. The site says ASE Express is free for use on Linux. But when I try to install on a Linux OS, the Express Edition license is not available. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately SAP has quietly decided to discontinue offering the ASE Express Edition (XE). 'Why' SAP has made this decision is anyone's guess as it's been impossible (so far) to get anyone (from SAP) to comment on or explain the decision.

See the 'Decision' and 'Comments' components of this influence ticket requesting ASE XE be made avaialble again.

And yeah, the ASE trial download link still hasn't been updated to reflect the cancellation of the ASE XE option.

If you happen to have an XE license file from an ASE version pre-'16.0 SP04 PL01' then you may be able to copy that XE liense into a `16.0 SP04 PL01[+]` installation directory and still get access to the XE option, ymmv. [I've no idea how long this 'backdoor' will remain in newer releases of ASE]

Thanks for your reply. Yes that ASE trial link is very confusing.
