is there a trick to update the deployed version from the SAP Abab system/launchpad?

Please check SAP Fiori deployment options and SAP Fiori front-end server strategy. Unfortunately without an upgrade you're stuck on the Minor release. E.g. 1.71 with FES 6.0 you can only install patch versions.
