I'm pursuing my Bcom degree and most of the peoples advice is to take sap fi or co which will suit my education background.but Im interested to take sap mm but most of the MNCs hire candidates who have engineering as their education background. can someone guide me through this?

I am not sure a degree necessarily drives which area of SAP to go to; I recommend taking some free OpenSAP courses at open.sap.com and see where you think your skills may fit best - functional, technical, developer. Go to open.sap.com and browse the courses.
There is a shortage of S/4HANA skills so I recommend looking into those first
Good luck
