Can CPI do everything that PO does

I am working on initiative to consolidate and define a standard integration tool to be used at enterprise level. Currently we have SAP PO as well as CPI. Our use case has on-premise as well as cloud application integration. We also have an in-house developed tool that is currently used for non-SAP application integration.

My question is:

1. Can we go with CPI only (along with Open Connector and APIM) and decom SAP PO (and off course inhouse tool). Can we do process integrations and data mapping/manipulation using CPI only.

2. If above answer is No, what are the use cases where we need PO as well along with CPI.

3. Does Open Connector and APIM require separate licensing or included with CPI.

Hi Ahmad,

Here is an article highlighting a few differences between CPI and PO. CPI is adding more functionality so there are fewer and fewer differences.

Hi Ahmed,

CPI (now part Integration Suite) has similar capabilities as SAP PO. It depends on your landscape of current integration complexity in SAP PO to determine if this can be migrated as it is or required redesigning of integration. There are certain scenario's needs to be redesigned e.g. NFS etc.

Open connector is part of Integration suite along with API management, Integration advisor. So you need to enable the capability and discuss the licensing with SAP Account person.

Harish
