SAP Business One: How to get SAP to use Translation instead of default description?

Hello everyone,

I added translations to User Defined Fields but when I start SAP B1 and change the language those fields don't show the translation of the label. It just shows the default description. I see the translations in the context menu of the UDF Description field as you can see in the screenshot.

Is there a way to get SAP to use the translations instead of the default description?

Kind Regards

Kai

Hi Kai,

From the past incidents that I duly checked for this post, the same note came back for user fields labels, where the title is "Some Item Translations are not Reflected in the Application or Printout (system design)". I agree that the content of the note is not necessarily exhausting.

Your original screenshot is actually missing. However, the following is by design: only standard fields are translated in SAP Business One - not user fields. Such field and their labels are usually used by add-ons, which might be an issue here.

SAP Business One allows you to customize the interface language for the user: Users Setup DisplayLanguage, and when having the option Multi-Language Support enabled under AdministrationSystem InitializationCompany DetailsBasic Initialization. After changing the language to a different language, standard fields are translated - there are no translations of additional fields - user-defined fields.

Note that there are already similar posts on our Customer Influence Portal here and here on this, which may be of your interest and should confirm your findings.

Dear Kai,

The issue is by current design. Check SAP Note 1701723 on this behavior.

Unfortunately Note 1701723 only references the translation of UDFs on documents or printouts.

My problem was specific to the translation of the UDFs in SAP B1 windows.

Kind regards,

Kai
