SAP Data Intelligence Cloud - Does the version come with internal HANA DB ?

Hi

Does SAP DI Cloud version come with a inbuilt HANA DB? If yes, could you please let me know the details on how to utilize it as a target in DI to be used for light weight storage and also to virtualize the data files from DI_DATA_LAKE ?

Thanks
Raghav

Hello jyothiraghav.jinka

the distribution of functionality is different from SAP Cloud and Hyperscaler's like Azure. in both cases a HANA Instance takes care of the persistency, and HANA is way much to heavy for such as task, despite it is used as SAP Cloud/Hyperscaler/(real) on-premise.

Furthermore the Vora Implementation on SAP DI is a really bas Implementation of SAP IQ. The better approach is to Install SAP DI Hyperscaler/(real) on-premise without the Vora support and Install a proper SAP IQ Database instead, see SAP (Sybase) IQ – the hidden treasure …

So it make sense, to stop offering the Vora support on SAP DI Cloud and using SAP HANA Datalake instead. This would be a logical step and I cannot judge, if this is really the case at this time

Never the less, there is a difference in functionality between SAP DI purely as SAP Cloud offering and the implementation of SAP DI Hyperscaler/(real) on-premise. SAP DWC implements it's own DI "light" as is doesn't work properly with SAP DI Cloud, SAP HANA Cloud prefers the HANA native NSE option instead of SAP HANA Datalake and how SAP HANA Datalake is leveraging the other SAP Cloud Components, I cannot say anyway.

Hi Roland

Thanks for the details, its very useful information.

I am currently using a DI Cloud BTP subscription and by default there is connection for DI_DATA_LAKE. I am trying to evaluate to see if there is an in-built HANA DB available with given DIC subscription - to use for light-weight storage in a relational format in memory and also to virtualize the data files in the DI_DATA_LAKE as virtual tables. Is there a possible HANA application solution available to be added in Data Intelligence Cloud ?

Thanks
