New functionality - Send Mobile Notification

Release notes for v1702 says that a new action for Campaigns is available - send mobile notifications.

Our customer wanted to have this for a very long time and I am happy to learn that this feature is added, but unfortunately I cannot find anywhere in the documentation it explained, how will it work?

We want to send push notifications to google and apple mobile device users via our own app. Is that what this new functionality means?

Unfortunately neither under "Campaigns" nor "Campaign Actions" explanation is provided.

Can someone please shed some light on this?

Still nobody have heard of it? In release notes there is one slide and image, which does not say anything :(

Hi Maris,

Yes, I also read that on release notes. That's one of standard capability for campaign actions in addition to A/B Testing, Export and C4C related actions like, Create Phone Call, Create Appointment etc.

However, I couldn't find any document related to it either. A/B testing, for instance, is covered in SAP Application help documentation but our brand new action is put in the shade.

I hope some SAP employees will shed some light on this action soon

One thing that is not clearly visible at a first glance, it is not available for on-premise customers. Only Marketing Cloud. Other thing that I don't see anywhere, where it tells that you need to upload Apple and Google ID's for push notifications, otherwise how system will know, whom to push the notifications.

Hi Colleagues,

We have created new origin id to store the device push token Id. Existing contacts needs to be updated with this Id. One can create target group based on the new origin id and can execute the campaign for this target group.

Customer can also create their own Origin Id in 1705 release onwards & configure the mobile app accordingly.
