Moving average price not updated after backflush

Hello,

Currently, our all our materials are configured with standard price control (MBEW-VPRSV = S). I changed this to moving average price (MBEW-VPRSV = V) for two BOM components (1 raw material, 1 semi-finished product) and their finished product. I then created POs for the BOM components. After posting GRs, the moving averages prices for these components were updated as expected. Next I backflushed (MFBF, REM assembly) the finished product but its moving average didn't change, despite consuming the components whose price was updated by the earlier GRs

According to note 81682,

SAP strongly recommends that you do not select price control V for semi-finished

products and finished products, because doing so will very easily cause the

calculation of unrealistic valuation prices.

This indicates that my backflush should have updated finished product price (perhaps with an unrealistic valuation). Can anyone suggest why the finished goods moving average price did not change? How could I investigate?

Why do you expect a price change for the finished product if it is still standard price valuated (you only said you changed the price control of 2 components)?

    • Actually, I changed the price control to moving average price (MBEW-VPRSV = V) for two BOM components (1 raw material, 1 semi-finished product) _and_ their finished product - so all 3 were set to V.

Since I am only testing at the moment, I did not change all the BOM components to V, only 2 of them.
