Fixing the size of welcome area

Hi,

I need to display Welcome FirstName and LastName in the welcome area. Depending on the length of the name, my branding image gets truncated or is displayed repetitively.

How to make the length of the welcome area fixed so that the branding image jpg is displayed fully? Or is there an alternative for displaying the name and image without truncation?

Thanks

Sumathi

    hi,

you can fix the length of welcome area.

    Go to systemadministration->portal display->themeeditor

select the theme which you are currently using and dbclick on it. the properties of the theme will be opened.

      Hi

Open the Masthead par file in NWDS and do changes in the Headeivew.jsp where it points to welcome area or u can do search for prtlHdrWelcome in this Headeriview.jsp. Its simple jsp.Do the changes as per your requirement.Create the par file with the changes and deploy .

Please let me know, if you have still issues.

      Regards

    hi,

You will have to create a new desktop to which you will have to assign the theme you require and the default framework page.

For the theme you will have to save the existing theme and under the saved theme you will have to change the length of the welcome area to accomadate the largest name. You can alternatively decrease the functional area, masthead logo length.

You can mention the length of the welcome area interms of pixels. You can fix the length of the welcome area as 150 pixels (for eg) if the name of the user whose name is large can accomadate the area.

    You can refer

Revert back if you have doubts

    Also refer creating new desktops

If you are using a NW portal, go under System Admin/ System Config/ UM configuration and see the tab Direct Editing.

    Go to the line

ume.users.displayname_template=, and change it to just

should also help you to minimize the length.

    Hi

I am also in a similar situation. You do not have an option to change the size of the welcome area of the container but you do have the option to position the name inside the welcome area.

I am also looking for a solution for changing the height and width of the welcome area.

If anyone gets any idea please let me know

    Thanks
