Postal Opt-Ins in SAP Marketing Cloud

Hi Experts,

during the configuration of a new MC tenant I recognized that there's an attribute POSTAL_OPTIN in data source _SAP_CF_CE_CONTACT_IA_ERP_CUST in the Segmentation Configuration app.

I know there is a very old improvement request covering that topic (and in every new project it bothers me that it still does not exist because from my experience I can say nearly every B2B marketing needs that for sending out their calatogs and so on): https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/idea/214491/

Does anybody know what that attribute is for and how to use it? Is it already possible to maintain Postal Opt-Ins in SAP Marketing Cloud? If so, how does that work? I cannot find any information about it.

Hi Thomas,

you are right: this is a field contact level which can be populated with Opt-In data.

However it is not integrated in the "Marketing Permissions", so no checks are done during campaign execution (e.g. for Exporting data). All filters need to be applied within segmentation.

I cannot find it in the Contacts API https://api.sap.com/api/API_MKT_CONTACT_SRV_0004/resource

Is it only possible to import data for that field via File Upload? Do we see it in Contact UI or only in segmentation?

Hi Tobias,

the field "HasMktgPermissionForDirectMail" should be the one which is mapped to "POSTAL_OPTIN".

can someone tell me if I can display the Attribute "Postal_OPTIN" in in the Contact Profile? And can I change it manually like other permissions?

Do I only see it in the segmentation and can upload it via a data file load?
