EWM mandatory HU by product

Hi,

In S4 embeded EWM, how can I force that a material is storaged and managed by HU in a storage type that allows both Hu and not Hu materials.

I explain the businness requirement:

They have two materials categories: trazables and not trazables.

Trazable materials must be managed by HUs but not trazable materials must not be managed by HU, by material, batch and quantity.

One bin of a storage type could have materials with Hu and materials without HU.

HOw can I configure that?

Thanks.

Packing depends on the setting of Product. If you will not assign then it will not ask for packing. Pleas check. it is better to fix a bin if there is somthing complex

HI,

Thanks for your answer, but i need to avoid that some materials to be packed in anyway: the inbound delivery or the /SCWM/PACK.

I have done several tests and the behaviour of material in HU and not in HU in the same bin is not working right for the picking tasks. So I need to avoid it.

Any suggestion?

Regards.

Hi Daniel,

I am not aware of a flag that forces HU-management, but how about this:

Option 1:

Assuming you have an inbound process with an inbound delivery and you can define packing specifications because you putaway in "standardized" HUs you could simply auto-pack your inbound delivery (either manually in /SCWM/PRDI or upon creation of the IBD). After packing you can put away the HUs.

Option 2:

If you cannot define pack specs (e.g. because the materials come in in all sorts and shapes) and again assuming you have an inbound process with an IBD you could use the "staging area / door determination group" to separate the materials which need to be packed into their own inbound staging area (just to make the packing requirement visible). From there you pack the IBD and put away the HUs.

If you have some more details on your process more ideas might be popping up.
